Climate change will be a
central challenge over the next few decades, reason why it is crucial to raise
awareness and enable young people to cope with fundamental changes, and empower
them to act as catalysts for systemic change and trigger climate innovation.
The project "Young
Innovators 2: Deepening and Broadening the Italian experiment", funded by
the EIT Climate-KIC (Education Learning Hub), suggests climate change as a
central topic in schools in order to highlight the role of educational
institutions as innovative labs and of students as agents of change towards a
low carbon economy.
Through a series of initiatives led by project partners,
students will be called to address challenges on climate change to consolidate
the results of the "Young Innovators" 2019 pilot project. The
objective pursued by AESS, the project coordinator, and by the other partners, ENEA
and ECODOM, is to guide teachers and students towards new techniques for
inclusive teaching aimed at raising students' awareness about environmental
issues.
The project will determine an active involvement of the schools in
Cormano and Cava de’ Tirreni in order to face the challenge that will be launched
during the next Young Climathon 2020 in November, to enhance the territory in a
circular economy perspective.
On Wednesday 1st July 2020, the first of four training meetings was held
involving the beneficiaries of the project namely the intermediate schools from
Cormano (Istituto Comprensivo A. Manzoni) and high schools from Cava de' Tirreni
(Liceo Scientifico A. Genoino , IIS "Della Corte-Vanvitelli and the De
Filippis - Galdi high school), as well as representatives of other schools
throughout the Italian country, Universities, NGOs (Legambiente) and training
support structures.

the first training activity follows.
