The health
emergency resulting from the spread of the Covid-19 has given a severe blow to
the activities of WEEE collection and raising awareness among citizens towards
the application of more sustainable behaviors in the management of electrical
and electronic waste, fundamental elements in the Cava de 'Tirreni pilot.
For this
reason, with the restart of the activities, the project team launched a reward
program that allows citizens to access a
series of rewards based on the number of WEEE transfers made.
In the case
of the city of Cava de 'Tirreni, the InnoWEEE project envisaged the
installation of 4 smart bins capable of recognizing citizens, allowing the
correct delivery of waste according to defined categories and returning an
"ecological" receipt, bearing the amount of CO2 saved
thanks to the WEEE correct disposal.
Thanks to
the support of a local communication company, ADV City, the creation of a
network of commercial activities is being consolidated under the InnoWEEE
brand, so that a dedicated discount will be guaranteed for those who present
these receipts, acting as a driving force for the consolidation of
environmentally correct behaviors.
A similar reward system will also be applied
in the case of used EEE, where, just like WEEE, the goal remains to raise
awareness of the problem and improve common behaviors.
